Peki-tsame: The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has cautioned drivers to strictly adhere to speed limits and avoid risky overtaking. The caution follows the catastrophic head-on collisions involving a Mercedes-Benz container truck and a passenger bus, at Peki-Tsame on the Asikuma-Peki Highway that claimed 15 lives and injured 25 others.
According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Joana Fafa Ayer, Volta Regional Director of the NRSA, urged drivers to prioritize their safety and that of other road users. She charged drivers to strictly obey posted limits, including slowing down to 50 km/h in built-up areas and towns, noting that adherence to safety regulations is key in ensuring the safety of all road users.
The Director advised drivers to avoid unnecessary overtaking on blind curves and take adequate rest on long-distance journeys. Madam Ayer, while urging all citizens to abide by the road safety protocols, said her outfit would continue to enforce the road safety laws and sensitize road users, including drivers and pedestrians.
