Accra: The Adenta Divisional Police Command recently held its Annual WASSA Day event at its premises, marking a significant occasion to engage and entertain its dedicated officers. The event successfully united all District Police Commands under the Divisional Headquarters, including teams from Lakeside, Ayimensah, Kuotam, Oyibi, Maidworm, Frafraha, Abokobi, and Danfa. All district commanders and their crime officers were present for this gathering.
According to Ghana News Agency, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Susan Adjei Mensah, the Divisional Police Commander, addressed the attendees under the theme "Partnership for Safe and Secured Community." ACP Mensah emphasized that police officers and citizens alike play crucial roles in maintaining community safety. She reiterated that effective policing relies heavily on strong partnerships between law enforcement and the community. Commander Mensah highlighted the police's core duties: preventing and detecting crime, as well as protecting life and property.
ACP Mensah further noted that trust is essential for security, as community trust in the police facilitates the sharing of information. She encouraged community members to take preventive measures such as lighting streets, fencing schools, and securing homes to prevent crime.
The event also featured remarks from local government officials. La-Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly Chief Executive Alhaji Faila pledged collaboration with the Adenta Municipal Assembly to complete an office structure currently under construction. Additionally, Municipal Chief Executive for Adenta, Ella Esinam Nongo, committed to maintaining the station's vehicles to improve night patrols by the Adenta Divisional Command.
The gathering was attended by notable figures, including Mr. John Kwamina Otu, Head of the Adenta Fire Service Unit, and was chaired by Dr. Degaule Moses of MediMoses Prostate Hospital in Adenta. The Ghana Police Central Band provided musical entertainment, and Miss Justine Ofori, a first-year student from West African Senior High School Adenta, delivered a well-received speech on community-police cooperation.
