Adaklu: A state-of-the-art office complex was commissioned on Friday for the Adaklu Traditional Council. The building, which cost GHS900,000, was funded by Mr. Governs Kwame Agbodza, Minister for Roads and Highways, with his share of the MP's Common Fund. It was jointly commissioned by Mr. Agbodza, Mr. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim, Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, and Togbe Gbogbi Atsa V, President of the Adaklu Traditional Council and Paramount Chief of Adaklu.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Agbodza also provided furniture and other office equipment worth GHS600,000 from his own resources. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Agbodza, who is also the Member of Parliament for Adaklu, appealed to the chiefs to allocate an office for land regulatory matters in the new building. He emphasized the importance of regulating land sales in the area, advising that all transactions must be well documented.
Mr. Agbodza highlighted President John Dramani Mahama's commitment to national development, referencing the reset agenda and the 'big push' initiative. He stated that the Volta region and Adaklu would benefit from infrastructure projects, including the completion of the Ho - Aflao and Ho - Atimpoku Roads within eighteen months. Additionally, contracts have been awarded for several local roads, and Mr. Agbodza urged the chiefs to support contractors in ensuring quality work.
Mr. Agbodza also addressed educational infrastructure, assuring that the Gbekor Senior High School's infrastructure deficit would soon be resolved. He announced that both Gbekor Senior High School and Adaklu Senior High School would be provided with a school bus.
Mr. Gunu reaffirmed the government's dedication to working with chiefs to foster development, commending Mr. Agbodza for providing a suitable office for the council. He encouraged the chiefs to utilize the facility for discussions on both local and national issues.
Togbe Gbogbi expressed gratitude to President Mahama for the reset agenda and urged his fellow chiefs to support the President's efforts. He also thanked Mr. Agbodza for enhancing the council's dignity with the new office complex.
The event was attended by Madam Rita Naa Odorley Sowah, Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, as well as regional and constituency NDC executives and chiefs from the Traditional Area.
