Adaklu: Mr Jerry Yao Ameko, Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE), has urged Ghanaians to foster self-belief and nurture the culture of hard work and patriotism. He emphasized the importance of focusing on present actions to improve living standards for current and future generations.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Ameko addressed these sentiments during a parade by school children at Adaklu Waya, marking the country's 69th anniversary celebration themed 'Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope.' He highlighted the legacy of the nation's forebears, who paved the way for dignity and self-rule. Mr Ameko stressed that aspiration anchored in credibility could lead to a prosperous nation through unity and determination.
The theme of the celebration, he noted, aligns with the government's efforts to build prosperity through job creation, price reductions, and infrastructure development. The Adaklu District Assembly is investing in educational infrastructure, agricultural support, and improvements in roads, water, sanitation, and healthcare to enhance livelihoods.
As the Dean of Volta Region Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs), Mr Ameko affirmed the Assembly's commitment to driving economic growth and improving education and healthcare as part of national development. He announced that most roads in the district have been earmarked for reconstruction and bitumen surfacing, with work progressing steadily.
Mr Ameko called on district citizens to transcend political differences and collaborate in creating a prosperous country with access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. He assured that his administration would enhance public financial management and community engagement to foster trust and hope.
He advised students to prioritize hard work, emphasizing that academic and life success depends on embracing challenges and maintaining discipline. He urged them to avoid deviant behaviors that could undermine government investments in education aimed at producing graduates capable of driving sustainable development.
Mr Ameko stated that the government's commitment to restoring hope is demonstrated through tangible development projects and initiatives, not merely rhetoric. He concluded that Ghana's pragmatism, coupled with Adaklu's discipline and patriotism, would spread prosperity and hope.
The parade featured participants from Adaklu Waya E.P. Basic School and Adaklu Waya Global Evangelical Church Child Development Centre, attended by local chiefs and queens.
