Adaklu: Mr Jerry Yao Ameko, the Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE), emphasized the importance of peace and unity as essential conditions for development during a grand durbar held to celebrate the sixth Afordeza in Adaklu Ablornu. He urged the community to rally behind their chiefs to foster rapid progress.
According to Ghana News Agency, the event was themed 'Empowering Educators, Enriching Communities: Building brighter futures.' Mr Ameko highlighted the necessity for the Adaklu people to unite and maintain peace to fully benefit from President John Dramani Mahama's reset agenda. He expressed optimism about Adaklu's progress from past challenges and stressed the importance of avoiding chaos and acrimony for the district's development.
Mr Ameko encouraged constructive dialogue and collaboration with traditional and political authorities, warning against backbiting and mudslinging. He assured the community of ongoing development projects, including classroom blocks, teachers and nurse quarters, and roads. As the Dean of Volta Region MDCEs, he pledged support in completing a teacher's bungalow and providing furniture for the local Kindergarten, in collaboration with Mr. Governs Kwame Agbodza, Minister for Roads and Highways and Member of Parliament for Adaklu.
The DCE also called for reflection during the Easter season to foster both physical and spiritual growth. Mama Dzuenyeakpe III, the Queen of the community, urged the youth to focus on development and eliminate bitterness and acrimony. She highlighted the importance of education for children to ensure rapid development and poverty eradication in Ablornu.
Mama Dzuenyeakpe appealed to the government and District Assembly for road upgrades from Adaklu Waya to Ablornu due to its poor condition. Mr Raphael Anani, Chairman of the Festival Planning Committee, mentioned that funds raised during the durbar would support the completion of the teacher's bungalow. Mr Ameko, alongside Mr Agbodza, donated GHS5,000 towards the project, while an additional GHS50,000 was raised during a fundraising appeal.
