Abuakwa South MP Condemns Shooting Incident at Kyebi Zongo

Accra: The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, has condemned the shooting of a young man in Kyebi Zongo, urging residents to remain calm while authorities investigate.

According to Ghana Web, the MP's office issued a statement on Sunday, July 12, 2026, noting a viral video that showed a confrontation between some youth and military personnel on Saturday, July 11, 2026. The incident resulted in a young man being shot and injured, and the victim is currently receiving medical treatment at the Kyebi Government Hospital.

Dr. Agyemang expressed his sadness over the development and unequivocally condemned violence and brutality that endangers lives and safety. He emphasized that no community should witness such scenes while the facts surrounding the incident are still being established.

The MP appealed to the residents of Abuakwa South, particularly the youth, to remain calm, exercise restraint, and allow state institutions to investigate the circumstances of the incident. He also called on security authorities to conduct a thorough, impartial, and transparent investigation to ensure justice is served.
