Wassa fiase: The management of Global (Ghana) Ore Industries Limited, a mining company, has formally introduced itself to the Wassa Fiase Traditional Council in the Western Region. The company now operates the Aboso-Bompieso Mine, formerly held by Adudanfed Company Limited, stretching from Fanti Mine to Bompieso in the Prestea-Huni Valley Municipality.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Joseph Yankson Forbah, Managing Director of Global (Ghana) Ore Industries Limited, led the delegation and emphasized the company's commitment to fostering a strong relationship with the traditional authorities. He highlighted the importance of gaining community backing and general support from the operational areas as the company aims to operationalize the Mine.
Mr. Forbah assured the traditional council that Global (Ghana) Ore Industries Limited would prioritize corporate social responsibilities, focusing on schools, health facilities, economic empowerment programs, scholarships, local participation, and strict environmental protection to enhance the social status of the community. "We are not just here to mine but to transform lives, and make sure indigenes benefit directly and build better living standards," he added.
He also pointed out the issue of illegal miners on their concession as a significant obstacle requiring urgent resolution to allow the company to proceed smoothly. Mr. Forbah urged the traditional council and communities within the concession area to support community cohesion and inclusive development by peacefully vacating the area.
Mr. Daniel Eshun, Community Relations Coordinator at the Minerals Commission, Takoradi Office, confirmed that the company had completed all legal procedures under the Minerals and Mining Act, Act 703, and L.I. 2173. He assured that the Commission would oversee Global (Ghana) Ore Industries Limited to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.
Nana Abena Kunadjoa II, the Paramount Queen Mother of Wassa Fiase Traditional Area, expressed hope for the total transformation of Wassa Fiase with the company's takeover of the Aboso-Bompieso Mine. She encouraged the company to prioritize development and job creation for the youth within its catchment communities for shared prosperity.
