Accra: Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Abeiku Santana, has declared his preference for remaining in Ghana over accepting a $100,000 monthly salary to live in the United States or the United Kingdom.
According to Ghana Web, Santana expressed his views in a video shared on X, sighted on September 6, 2026. He argued that Ghana offers more opportunities than the US, yet many Ghanaians do not take advantage of them. Santana said, "If you gave me a $100,000 monthly salary to live in America or to live in the UK, I'll choose Ghana. Ask me why. There are more opportunities in Ghana than in America. We see the opportunity, but we are not able to seize the opportunity."
Abeiku Santana also discussed the tendency of foreigners and expatriates to exploit opportunities in Ghana that locals often overlook. He noted that while Ghanaians frequently express dissatisfaction with challenges, outsiders capitalize on the same situations to earn a living. Santana remarked, "Then foreigners or expatriates come; they see it, and they seize it. We see the opportunity, but we lament. We always complain. Anything that people are complaining about is an opportunity. Opportunity is work. Opportunity is problems. But we don't like problems."
