Accra: Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, widely known as A-Plus, engaged in a heated exchange with media personalities MC Yaa Yeboah and Abena Moet on the popular television show, United Showbiz. The confrontation arose during a discussion about the alleged promotion of fraudulent activities by some Ghanaian musicians.
According to Ghana Web, the tension began when MC Yaa Yeboah accused certain musicians of promoting fraud at public events. She pointed to the recent Gomoa Easter Carnival, where performers reportedly urged authorities to release Abu Trica, a figure potentially facing extradition to the United States over allegations of involvement in a romance scam. Yeboah stated, “Musicians have been on stage where they encourage fraud… Apart from that, they have been seen, while performing, encouraging fraud.”
A-Plus immediately challenged Yeboah’s accusations, pressing her for specific examples and evidence to support her claims. He questioned, “Who is the fraudster you are talking about? Who has engaged in fraud that people are encouraging? You are stating on this show that some artistes went on stage to encourage fraud. What evidence do you have?”
In the ensuing discussion, Abena Moet supported Yeboah’s claims by citing a video in which musician Kwaw Kese allegedly promoted fraudulent activities after advocating for Abu Trica’s release. Moet argued that Abu Trica could be labeled a fraudster due to his legal troubles and potential extradition. However, A-Plus countered her assertion by demanding proof of any legal judgment in Ghana declaring Abu Trica a fraudster. He stated, “Abu Trica is the fraudster? Which court found him guilty of being a fraudster? They have even given him 15 days to appeal. No court in Ghana has found him guilty. He is only being asked to go and answer questions in America.”
