Accra:Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers' Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has dismissed the idea that Kojo Bamba, an individual associated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), can ensure electoral security in the 2028 elections. He argued that the NPP cannot use Bamba to intimidate the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to Ghana Web, Professor Gyampo shared his views during an appearance on TV3's "The Key Points" following the NPP's National Delegates Conference. He questioned the rationale behind presenting Bamba as a security solution, given that he could not fulfill such a role while the NPP was in power. Gyampo emphasized that the NPP had the authority to oversee national security during its administration.
Gyampo expressed skepticism about Bamba's potential impact on electoral security, noting that if the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces could not provide the desired security, it is unrealistic to expect one individual to do so in a different regime. He used a local proverb to underscore that the NDC should not feel threatened by Bamba's perceived strength. Gyampo highlighted the NDC's revolutionary origins, suggesting that it was well-equipped to handle such challenges.
Furthermore, Gyampo urged the NDC to focus on President John Dramani Mahama's Reset Agenda, emphasizing governance over political power struggles. He pointed to job creation, declining inflation, and lower interest rates as crucial indicators of government performance that could appeal to voters.
