Atwima Kwanwoma:Tension is escalating within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency of the Ashanti Region due to allegations of manipulation concerning the delegates' album ahead of the party’s constituency elections. Some delegates claim that names of qualified individuals have been removed and replaced with those of unqualified persons to benefit certain candidates.
According to Ghana Web, aggrieved delegates have invoked the Antoa deity, expressing their anger by pouring libation, slaughtering sheep, and calling upon "Antoa Nyamaa" and other river deities to punish those allegedly involved in the manipulation if the situation is not rectified.
One aggrieved delegate voiced disappointment over the alleged manipulation, emphasizing that they will not allow their contributions to the party to be undermined. The delegate insisted on calling upon Antoa to address anyone complicit in manipulating the album.
The delegates assert that if these alleged changes are not addressed, it could compromise the integrity of the electoral process and cause divisions among party members. They have urged the Ashanti Regional and national NDC leadership to step in urgently, suggesting a suspension of the elections and a thorough audit of the delegates’ album to uncover the truth.
They demand that all qualified delegates be allowed to participate in the elections without facing intimidation or favoritism. The delegates warned that if their concerns are not resolved before the elections, it might increase tension and jeopardize the peace and unity within the constituency.
The situation has put pressure on the party’s leadership to investigate the allegations and ensure a transparent and fair electoral process. However, attempts to get a response from the constituency executives have been unsuccessful.
