Accra:Fans have criticized Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku following his comments directed at Manhyia South MP Baffour Awuah, who had called for governmental involvement in reforming Ghana football.
According to Ghana Web, Awuah's call for government intervention in addressing challenges within the sport's administration led Okraku to question the number of football pitches Awuah had constructed for his constituents.
This response sparked a wave of reactions from football fans on social media, with many questioning whether MPs are responsible for providing football pitches and sporting facilities. Fans argued that the construction and development of football infrastructure should not fall on an individual legislator, particularly when the GFA is tasked with administering football in the country.
Some fans used the opportunity to critique Okraku's response, suggesting that it diverted attention from Awuah's concerns about reforming Ghana football. Others highlighted the government's role in developing AstroTurf pitches across the country, questioning why the GFA president would direct questions about football infrastructure at an MP.
A section of the fans also expanded the discussion to Okraku's leadership of the GFA, with some calling for government intervention to prevent him from serving a third term.
