Anloga: Mr. Abraham Apetorgbor Lumor, the Assembly Member of Adzato Electoral Area in Anloga District, has made an appeal for financial support to facilitate the third edition of the Annual Quiz Competition for Basic schools in his constituency. The budget for this initiative stands at GHS11,855, aimed at procuring essential logistics for the event's smooth execution.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Lumor explained in an interview that this quiz competition, now in its third consecutive year in the Volta Region, has become a significant annual event. It serves the purpose of fostering healthy academic competition among students and enhancing the quality of education within the Adzato Electoral Area.
The competition has historically involved four basic schools: R.C. Basic School, Adzato; E.P. Basic School, Akplorfudzi; D.A. Basic School, Kpordui; and R.C. Basic School, Sodzi. All these schools are expected to participate in this year's edition, scheduled for October 16, at E.P. Basic School, Akplorfudzi, starting at 0900 hours. Mr. Lumor has urged individuals, corporate bodies, and philanthropists to lend their support to ensure the competition's success and sustainability.
Support can be extended in various forms, including cash, school bags, medals, textbooks, notebooks, exercise books, mathematical sets, or any educational materials beneficial to the programme and motivating for the pupils. The budget allocation includes GHS 2,500 for cash prizes, GHS 1,280 for textbooks, GHS 1,200 for school bags, GHS 1,500 for transportation and logistics, and GHS 1,500 for refreshments. Additional items include medals, certificates, canopies, plastic chairs, sound system rental, and printing costs.
Mr. Lumor has provided multiple channels for donations, including an Anlo Rural Bank PLC account registered in his name and a Mobile Money option. He assured that all contributions will be strictly used for the quiz competition and properly accounted for.
Expressing gratitude to past supporters, Mr. Lumor emphasized the importance of sustaining this initiative, which offers pupils a platform for academic competition and confidence-building. He further encouraged potential donors to contact him directly for more information.
