According to Ghana Web, the 2025 State Ownership Report by the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) reveals that this reduction represents a 92.60% decline in the company's net loss within one year.
STC's operating loss also saw a sharp decline from GHS45.13 million in 2024 to GHS4.27 million in 2025, while its loss before tax decreased from GHS70.08 million to GHS4.73 million over the same period. The report attributes this improvement mainly to the company's cost-reduction efforts and changes in foreign exchange gains and losses.
STC's total expenditure decreased by 18.70%, from GHS198.71 million in 2024 to GHS161.49 million in 2025. However, the company recorded lower revenue during the year, with operating revenue declining by 11.77%, from GHS178.03 million in 2024 to GHS157.08 million in 2025. SIGA attributes the decline in operating revenue primarily to the limited number of buses available for operations, differences in fares, and increased competition in the transport sector.
STC's total revenue, including other income, also fell by 30.79%, from GHS227.43 million in 2024 to GHS157.39 million in 2025. Despite the revenue decline, the significant reduction in expenditure helped STC substantially narrow its losses in 2025. The company will need to improve bus availability, strengthen its operations, and increase revenue to sustain the gains recorded during the year.
