Business Owner Shares CCTV Footage of Employee Allegedly Stealing from Shop

Ghana: A business owner in Ghana has shared closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage on social media, which she claims shows a male worker removing items from her shop after working hours.

According to Ghana Web, the owner expressed strong frustration over the incident in a post shared on Monday, August 31, 2026, on X by @eddie_wrt. She lamented what she described as a growing trend of employees undermining the very businesses that employ them. Highlighting the issue, she noted that while Ghanaians often complain about the lack of jobs, some workers resort to theft instead of hard work when opportunities arise.

The business owner questioned whether such actions were intended to collapse businesses that take years of sacrifice to establish. She shared her dismay, stating, "This is a worker who closed from duty and is now stealing. He doesn't know I'm monitoring him; look at him taking my items. People always complain there are no jobs in the country, yet some prefer to steal instead of working hard for money. Ghanaians want to collapse other people's businesses, but when asked to build their own, they cannot. Do you think it is easy to establish a business? And after all that effort, you still have the audacity to demand huge sums of money from us."

She further defended her decision to confront the worker, insisting that holding him accountable was not a crime. "What is my crime if I arrest him? Every day you wake up and complain there are no jobs, yet you continue to steal from employers and destroy their businesses," she asserted.

The video has since sparked reactions online, with many users calling for the employee's arrest.
