Accra: Ahafo Ano South-East Mr. Nelson Yamba Isaka Ibrahim, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South-East, has inaugurated a new three-unit classroom block at Banahenekrom Junior High School (JHS) to enhance educational opportunities in the region. The initiative aims to provide a better learning environment and access to quality education for the students.
According to Ghana News Agency, the facility was constructed using funds from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and includes three classrooms, an office, toilet and urinal facilities, along with additional amenities to support education. Speaking at the ceremony where the facility was handed over, Mr. Ibrahim noted that this project is part of the government's broader commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure and fostering conducive environments for effective learning.
Mr. Ibrahim expressed hope that the new facility would alleviate infrastructure challenges faced by schools in the area, offering a more comfortable setting for both teachers and students. While underscoring the importance of improved infrastructure for academic success, he emphasized that sustainability requires proactive maintenance by the school's management, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), traditional authorities, and local residents.
He further highlighted the community's responsibility in safeguarding public facilities from vandalism and neglect to ensure their longevity. Additionally, Mr. Yakubu Mohammed, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo Ano South-East, warned against encroachment on lands designated for educational and public purposes, urging individuals to respect these community resources.
Mr. Mohammed advised potential developers to verify land ownership and status before initiating projects, cautioning that unauthorized encroachment could disrupt future development plans. He called on traditional leaders, Assembly members, landowners, and residents to collaborate in protecting public lands, ensuring space for the expansion of schools and other community infrastructures.
Speaking on behalf of the school management, Mr. Hamidu Kramo, the District Director of Education for Ahafo Ano South-East, expressed gratitude to the DCE, MP, and stakeholders for their collaborative efforts in realizing the project. He described it as a significant advancement for education in the community, relieving pressure on existing facilities and providing a more conducive learning environment. Mr. Kramo assured that the facility would be well-maintained for the benefit of future generations.
