According to ghana web:ccording to Ghana Web, this resolution was adopted during the VRSC's first meeting of 2026 in Ho, chaired by Regional Minister Mr. James Gunu. The decision came in response to concerns about the region's poor performance in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The council emphasized the necessity for the Ghana Education Service (GES) to manage teacher postings at the District Education offices to better address the needs of remote areas, rather than handling postings from the Regional Education office.
During the meeting, Mr. Gunu, who also serves as the Chairman of the VRSC, highlighted the importance of education for regional growth. He appealed to retired and experienced teachers to consider filling vacant positions in the region's schools. Despite the challenges, he expressed contentment with the current state of peace in the region and encouraged residents to sustain this peace to further regional development.
In relation to the 2023 Akosombo and Kpong dam spillage, the Regional Minister disclosed that the government is preparing compensation packages for the affected victims, with plans to distribute these by the end of the year. He also mentioned the government's commitment to regional development through extensive road construction projects under the 'Big Push' initiative, urging residents to trust the government's efforts and collaborate to achieve the desired progress.
