Accra: The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has openly challenged Kwadwo Nsafoah Poku, a communicator for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to reassess his political history before labeling members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as his 'good friends.' This exchange occurred during a discussion on Metro TV's Good Morning Ghana, after Poku insinuated that Pratt's relationship with the NDC influenced his political commentary.
According to Ghana Web, Pratt addressed these assertions by highlighting his extensive involvement in Ghanaian politics and his connections across the political spectrum. He questioned the basis of Poku's claim, underscoring his active roles in the political narratives of both the NDC and the NPP. Pratt emphasized his participation in the struggle against the PNDC and his pivotal role in the NPP's rise to power in 2000, even inaugurating the first Dankwa-Busia Club, which evolved into the NPP.
Pratt further dismissed the notion that his criticism or defense of political figures hinged on personal friendships. He cited instances where he had been critical of the NDC, reinforcing that his commentary was driven by principles rather than alliances. Pratt also highlighted his falling out with former President John Agyekum Kufuor over principled disagreements, yet maintained a close friendship with him.
He argued that ideological differences should not automatically create adversaries, noting his ability to maintain friendships with politicians from various political affiliations. Pratt reiterated that attempts to brand him as an NDC sympathizer could not overshadow his long-standing contributions to Ghana's political landscape.
