Lagos: Two daughters of veteran Yoruba actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have made a heartfelt appeal for medical assistance, revealing that hospitals have refused to continue treatment for their father, who is battling stage-four cancer.
According to Ghana Web, Lima and Kira Taiwo made separate emotional pleas on Instagram, urging Nigerians, well-wishers, and medical professionals with experience in cancer treatment to help save their father. Lima, in a video posted on her Instagram page, expressed that the actor's condition had worsened and hospitals were unwilling to continue his treatment.
Struggling to hold back tears, Lima appealed to the public to help find a hospital or medical personnel willing to treat her father, emphasizing that the family was not seeking financial aid. She explained that the family only recently discovered the severity of Ogogo's condition, which wasn't immediately apparent from his outward appearance.
Lima reiterated that the appeal was solely for medical assistance, urging anyone with connections to healthcare providers willing to take on her father's case to reach out to the family. She acknowledged the support from a relative who had been instrumental during the crisis.
In another video, Kira echoed her sister's plea, stating that their father's cancer had reached stage four and hospitals were refusing further chemotherapy treatment. Kira expressed gratitude to Senator Yayi for his assistance in covering medical expenses, while also insisting that the family was not seeking financial help but rather medical intervention.
Kira appealed to anyone who could provide cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, to contact the family. She became emotional discussing her father's condition, noting that she had never seen him in such pain and that he had expressed his fear of dying.
Ogogo, 66, is a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry with a career spanning over four decades, featuring in more than 300 movies. Despite his family's public pleas, an official statement detailing the specific hospital, diagnosis, or type of cancer involved has yet to be issued by the actor's management or family.
