Accra: Genser Energy has secured £456 million in term and revolving credit facilities to support ongoing energy infrastructure projects and expansion in Ghana and other West African markets. The financing was arranged by FirstRand Bank Limited through its Rand Merchant Bank division, Absa Bank Limited, and Standard Bank of South Africa Limited.
According to Ghana News Agency, a press release shared on Monday stated that the funds would provide working capital for the completion of ongoing engineering, procurement, and construction projects, strengthen the company's balance sheet, and provide additional financial flexibility for its expansion plans. The financing will support continued investment in Ghana while advancing Genser Energy's expansion into C´te d'Ivoire and other strategic markets in the sub-region.
Mr. Baafour Asiamah-Adjei, the Chief Executive Officer of Genser Energy, expressed that the financing reflected the confidence of its financial partners in the company's long-term plans. He emphasized that since its inception, Genser has taken a long-term approach to building energy infrastructure across West Africa. The company intends to remain focused on investing in large-scale infrastructure to deliver reliable energy and support industrial development.
The release mentioned that this financing follows Genser Energy's previous US$428 million corporate refinancing in Ghana and a £200 million equipment loan facility secured by Genser Energy C´te d'Ivoire in 2025. The company expects to commission its Gas Conditioning Plant and the Takoradi Natural Gas Liquids Export Terminal later this year.
Genser Energy currently boasts over 334 megawatts of installed generation capacity and operates a 436-kilometer natural gas pipeline network in Ghana. The company is committed to developing and delivering energy solutions that support industrial growth, infrastructure expansion, and long-term value creation across West Africa. It supplies power to industrial clients and utilities and participates in cross-border power exports in the region.
