Two Suspects Shot as Police Thwart Robbery at GCB Bank Labone

Accra: The Ghana Police Service has announced that its officers successfully foiled an armed robbery attack in Labone, a suburb of the capital city, Accra. The attempted robbery targeted the Labone branch of GCB Bank PLC.

According to Ghana Web, the police disclosed the incident via a social media post on Thursday, August 13, 2026. During the intervention, two of the assailants were shot, and one was apprehended by the officers. The police statement read, "The Ghana Police Service today 13th August, 2026, foiled a robbery attempt on the GCB Bank, Labone, Accra. Two suspects have been gunned down and one has been arrested."

The current condition of the two suspects who were shot remains uncertain, as it is yet to be confirmed whether they are deceased or have sustained injuries. The police have promised to provide more details regarding the incident in the future.

A video from the incident scene depicted police officers, who were mostly in plain clothes and heavily armed, carrying what appeared to be a lifeless body. The police have assured the public of more comprehensive updates as they continue their investigation into the robbery attempt.
