Kumasi: The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has given the green light to a series of development projects under its revised 2026 Annual Action Plan, despite facing a reduction in grants.
According to Ghana News Agency, the approved projects include the construction of a new Divisional Police Station at the Central Police Station in Adum, a 20-seater toilet facility at the Kumasi Senior High Technical School, and the acquisition of a vacuum sweeper truck. Additional projects involve building a urinal at the KMA Sanitation Court in Asem and erecting fence walls around two educational institutions.
These initiatives were sanctioned during a General Assembly meeting at the Prempeh Assembly Hall, where assembly members evaluated the revised Annual Action Plan and Budget. Metro Development Planning Officer, Mr. Charles Adjei, presented the Assembly's development priorities, while Metro Budget Analyst, Mr. Jones Kani, detailed the revised budget.
The Assembly members engaged in discussions on the presentations, emphasizing the need for management to ensure the effective and timely execution of the approved projects. Mr. Patrick Kwame Frimpong, Presiding Member of the Assembly, highlighted the importance of members fulfilling their committee responsibilities, emphasizing the critical role committees play in the Assembly's operations.
He raised concerns about tardiness and absenteeism at committee meetings, warning that such behavior could hinder the Assembly's development efforts by missing out on members' contributions and expertise. Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, and Metro Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Dwira Darko, were also present during the discussions.
