Accra: The Ministry of Defence has unveiled a cenotaph in memory of the late Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, marking one year since a tragic helicopter crash claimed his life along with seven others. The solemn event was attended by the President, John Dramani Mahama, and the family of the late Defence Minister.
According to Ghana Web, the Vice President, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, members of the military high command, and other top officials from the John Dramani Mahama administration were also present at the unveiling. The cenotaph serves as a symbolic monument to honor the late minister, as well as the others who perished in the crash, whose bodies are not interred at the site.
A cenotaph, historically, is an empty tomb or monument erected to pay tribute to individuals whose remains are located elsewhere or have been lost. This particular monument stands as a testament to Dr. Omane Boamah's service and dedication to the nation, as well as the shared grief and respect of his colleagues and fellow citizens.
