Accra: The Ministry of Defence is hosting its inaugural annual public lecture today in memory of the late former Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah. This event aims to commemorate Dr Omane Boamah's significant contributions to Ghana's defence and national security, as well as his unwavering dedication to public service.
According to Ghana Web, the lecture will feature Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as the Special Guest of Honour. She will be joined by a panel of distinguished speakers who will address issues related to national security, defence policy, and Ghana's security needs. This initiative is part of a broader effort to preserve the legacy of the late minister and foster dialogue on pressing issues impacting the country's security sector.
Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah tragically passed away on August 6, 2025, following a military helicopter crash in the Adansi area of the Ashanti Region. The accident claimed the lives of eight individuals, including the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, along with other senior government officials and military personnel.
