Accra: President John Dramani Mahama has urged Christian leaders to employ the prophetic ministry as an influential means of fostering hope, national unity, and development. He encouraged prophets to proclaim God's promises over Ghana, motivating citizens to collectively build a peaceful, prosperous, and globally competitive nation. The President's message was conveyed by the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, during the Silver Jubilee celebration of Prophet Agyemang Prempeh Ministries.
According to Ghana Web, the event celebrated the ministry's 25 years of dedication to both God and humanity, drawing ministers of the Gospel, traditional rulers, political leaders, business executives, and members of the Christian community to honor the church's contributions to Ghana's spiritual, moral, and socio-economic progress. Addressing the assembly, Afriyie-Ankrah highlighted the prophetic office as one of God's most significant gifts to the Church, tasked with strengthening believers, promoting righteousness, and inspiring national transformation.
He acknowledged the recent public scrutiny of the prophetic ministry due to the actions of a few individuals but argued that it would be unjust to evaluate the entire office based on the faults of some. "There are still genuine prophets who faithfully seek and proclaim the mind of God with humility, integrity, and wisdom," he stated. Throughout biblical history, prophets were called not only to warn of impending danger but also to announce hope, restoration, and God's promises.
Afriyie-Ankrah expressed concern over the public's focus on prophecies of doom and misfortune, while messages of hope and progress received less attention. "While we must never ignore divine warnings, we must equally proclaim God's promises of peace, healing, restoration, and prosperity," he emphasized. He urged ministers to continue speaking words of hope over the nation, insisting that Ghana's future should be shaped by declarations of peace, unity, justice, and development.
Touching on Ghana's future, Afriyie-Ankrah stated that President Mahama remains committed to transforming Ghana into one of Africa's leading economies through visionary leadership and strategic investment. He believes Ghana has the necessary human capital, abundant resources, and entrepreneurial spirit to achieve rapid economic transformation. The President's vision includes building a modern Ghana with world-class infrastructure, quality education, and a technology-driven economy.
Afriyie-Ankrah noted that the President is confident Ghana can reach development levels comparable to countries like Malaysia, Singapore, and China, which have achieved remarkable progress through discipline, innovation, industrialization, effective leadership, and long-term planning. "Ghana has every potential to become one of Africa's greatest success stories," he said.
He also paid tribute to Prophet Agyemang Prempeh for his significant contributions to national development through spiritual leadership and humanitarian work. The ministry has consistently supported national development efforts through evangelism, youth empowerment, charitable outreach, and supporting vulnerable members of society.
Concluding the President's message, Afriyie-Ankrah expressed optimism about Ghana's future despite current challenges. He urged all Ghanaians to remain steadfast in prayer and committed to the national interest, emphasizing that through unity and determination, Ghana could emerge as a leading example of peace, prosperity, innovation, and sustainable development in Africa. The Silver Jubilee celebration of Prophet Agyemang Prempeh Ministries served as a reminder of the vital role faith-based organizations play in shaping values and supporting Ghana's national transformation.
