According to Ghana Web, the appointment recognizes Dr Bansah's outstanding scholarship at the intersections of theology, religion and public life, global Pentecostalism, human rights and inclusive community building.
In a statement, the University noted, "The appointment recognizes Dr Bansah's outstanding scholarship at the intersections of theology, religion and public life, global Pentecostalism, human rights and inclusive community building." His extensive leadership experience at Christ College London, his work with the Ghana Centre for Religion and Public Life, and his active engagement with international bodies and research networks position him to make a significant contribution to UC's intellectual life.
Rev Canon Prof Confidence Worlanyo Bansah (PhD) is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana-based research and advocacy organization, the Centre for Religion and Public Life. He is widely recognized for his work on religion, public policy, human rights and gender issues in Ghana.
In recent years, Dr Bansah has been among the prominent voices challenging Ghana's controversial Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill. He has argued that certain provisions of the proposed legislation could infringe on the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals and has called for justice, inclusion and the protection of human rights.
