‘Use Your Brain’ – Asamoah Gyan’s Passionate Touchline Instructions Go Viral

Accra: Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has gone viral after a video emerged online showing him passionately coaching a group of players during a match.

According to Ghana Web, the Black Stars' all-time leading scorer is heard urging his players to think quicker and make better decisions on the pitch instead of relying solely on instructions from the bench. In the circulating clip, Gyan tells the players, 'If you see your teammate is going for the ball, open up for an option to pass. Sometimes use your brain; it's not everything that we have to show you.'

The 40-year-old also encouraged them to recognise and exploit spaces whenever the opportunity arose, stressing that intelligent movement could make the difference. 'If you see you can exploit a space, you move. If the two of you have a good game, we will win,' he added.

Gyan also demanded a more purposeful build-up from the back, asking his team to maintain their movement and play incisive passes through the opposition's lines. 'Let's start the build-up like exactly how you're moving. I want to see the passes in between the lines,' he instructed.
