Glasgow: South African swimmer Chad le Clos made history at the Commonwealth Games by securing his 19th medal, breaking the previous record for the most medals won in the Games. "I shouldn't be crying at bronze, I should be crying at gold, but honestly this means the world," the 34-year-old le Clos expressed on the Games website following his achievement on Friday night.
According to Ghana Web, le Clos's impressive Commonwealth Games medal collection now includes seven golds, four silvers, and eight bronzes. The seasoned athlete is not yet finished with his endeavors at the Tollcross pool, as he is scheduled to compete in the 50- and 100-metre butterfly races.
Le Clos first appeared on the Commonwealth Games stage in 2010 in New Delhi, where he earned five medals at the age of 18. This year marks his participation in his fifth Commonwealth Games. Throughout his illustrious career, le Clos has also claimed four Olympic medals, including one gold, and 16 world titles, predominantly in the butterfly category. Looking ahead, he plans to compete in his fifth Olympic Games in 2028 in Los Angeles.
