Accra: Mr Richard Kwadekpo, Research and Elections Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Volta Region and Elections Committee Member, has confirmed that all 30 aspirants who filed nominations for the upcoming regional executive elections have successfully passed the vetting process.
According to Ghana News Agency, initially, 31 party members picked up nomination forms when the nominations opened, but only 30 submitted their forms before the deadline. Mr Kwadekpo explained that the vetting exercise, conducted from July 20 to 21, 2026, cleared all 30 aspirants to contest, with none being disqualified.
The positions being contested include Regional Chairman (two aspirants), First Vice Chairman (three), Second Vice Chairman (three), Regional Secretary (two), Deputy Regional Secretary (three), Regional Women's Organiser (three), Regional Youth Organiser (three), Regional Organiser (four), NASARA Coordinator (two), and Regional Communications Officer (three). Elections for the 11 elected executive positions are expected to take place on August 15, as per the party's electoral timetable, although the venue is yet to be confirmed.
Mr Kwadekpo mentioned that preparations for the elections are progressing, with some constituencies finalising the appointment of eight additional constituency executives who will join the elected executives to complete the electoral college. Once all appointments are completed, the party will compile and release the final electoral register to all aspirants, enabling them to campaign across the region.
He also noted that the atmosphere within the party has remained peaceful throughout the nomination and vetting process, with no major challenges recorded. The aspirants are expected to conduct clean and issue-based campaigns, focusing on their achievements and future plans. Mr Kwadekpo expressed optimism that the elections would be peaceful, transparent, and successful, wishing all aspirants safe travels as they tour the constituencies to canvass for votes.
