Accra: The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, and his wife, Lady Monica Wengam, have successfully completed their fourth Apostolic Visit to the Ashanti East Region. The event, held at the Lighthouse Assembly of God in Kumasi, brought together serving pastors and their spouses, retired ministers and their spouses, as well as pastors' widows for a time of intensive prayer, spiritual impartation, fellowship, and learning.
According to Ghana Web, the Ashanti East Regional Superintendent, Rev. Emmanuel Gyasi, welcomed the General Superintendent and his wife, highlighting several intervention policies and projects initiated under Rev Wengam's leadership. These initiatives have propelled the church to significant heights, with rebranding, revival, and aggressive church planting cited as key drivers of growth.
Rev Wengam led an intensive three-and-a-half-hour prayer session for the Church, the nation, the upcoming World Assemblies of God Fellowship Congress, and the 32nd Biennial General Council Meeting. He urged pastors to emulate the fervent faith of the early Church fathers, remain steadfast in their calling, prioritize church planting, and strengthen their spiritual discipline.
The National President of the Ministers' Wives Association, Lady Monica Wengam, expressed appreciation to pastors' wives for their active participation in the association's activities and encouraged them to remain committed to their God-given responsibilities. She presented gifts to pastors, pieces of cloth to their spouses, and cash and other items to retired ministers, their spouses, and pastors' widows. She explained that the welfare initiative is personally sponsored by herself and her husband as part of their commitment to supporting pastors and their families through the challenges of ministry. According to her, the initiative is their modest way of demonstrating care for God's servants.
In a reciprocal gesture, the Ashanti East Regional Council presented a special gift to Rev Stephen Wengam and Lady Monica Wengam in recognition of their visionary leadership, generosity, and unwavering commitment to the growth of Assemblies of God, Ghana. As part of the programme, Rev Wengam led married couples in the renewal of their wedding vows and encouraged pastors and their wives to model godly Christian marriages. Another highlight of this year's Apostolic Visit was the administration of Holy Communion, which concluded the programme on a spiritually uplifting note.
