In a video circulating on social media and sighted by GhanaWeb, Walker recounted his experience during a visit to Ghana, claiming the incident occurred while he was investing in the country. According to Ghana Web,Walker alleged that the police officer fabricated charges against him after he refused to comply with what he described as demands for money. Despite court officials indicating that the officer's claims were untrue, Walker was still remanded into custody. He described the ordeal as "very hurtful," noting that the officer filed several false statements leading to his arrest. Despite the court being informed that the allegations were untrue, the judge still sentenced him to jail.
Walker credited his release to his background as a US Marine and his brother's position as an FBI agent. He stated that the intervention of these connections, along with local support and calls made on his behalf, were crucial in securing his release. Walker expressed disappointment over the incident, especially given his significant investments in Ghana and his efforts to encourage other diasporans to return home. He questioned why someone contributing to the country's development would have to endure such an ordeal.
After regaining his freedom, Walker reported the incident through his lawyer to the Police Intelligence and Professional Standards Bureau (PIPS), but claimed no action had been taken against the officer involved. He expressed frustration that the police chief had not been reprimanded or held accountable for the incident. The claims made in the video have not been independently verified, and there has been no official response from the Ghana Police Service regarding the allegations.
