Ketu south: Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Member of Parliament for Ketu South and Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has provided relief items to the residents of Gakli community, who have been adversely affected by recent flooding in the municipality.
According to Ghana News Agency, the donation was made after the MP conducted a tour to evaluate the damage caused by heavy rains that led to flooding in several communities. The relief items included five wheelbarrows, five shovels, five rakes, 15 pairs of Wellington boots, 33 bags of rice, and 13 cartons of cooking oil, which were handed over to the Assembly Member representing the area on behalf of the community.
Madam Gomashie was accompanied by Mr Nicholas Ezo Worclachie, the Municipal Chief Executive, during the visit. She assured the residents that this initiative is part of a broader ongoing relief effort. She stated that additional support would be extended to other affected communities in the constituency in the coming weeks.
The MP expressed her gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for his steadfast support to the constituency, especially during past incidents like tidal waves, the Volta River Authority (VRA) spillage, and the current flooding. She affirmed her commitment, along with the Municipal Assembly, to aid affected residents and ensure prompt assistance during such emergencies.
Residents of the Gakli community expressed their appreciation for the assistance, noting that it would help them manage the impact of the flooding effectively.
