Accra: The Lands Commission on Friday, July 10, joined the nationwide post-flood clean-up exercise declared by the Government's Post-Flood Mitigation Committee on the theme, 'Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana after the Floods.' At the Corporate Head Office and the Greater Accra Regional Office in Accra, staff of the Commission mobilised to desilt drains, clear illegal dumpsites, and dispose of waste in surrounding communities.
According to Ghana News Agency, similar activities were replicated across the other 15 regional offices of the Commission, in collaboration with Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies. Professor Anthony Owusu-Ansah, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, led the clean-up exercise at the Regional Head Office alongside his deputies and management members. He expressed that the Commission is committed to environmental protection and public health, emphasizing the need for ongoing cleanliness efforts.
Mr. Emmanuel Adansi Bonah, Deputy Executive Secretary in charge of Corporate Services, and Madam Anne Brown, Director of Human Resources, toured the Commission's offices to monitor the progress of the exercise. Mr. Bonah encouraged staff to adopt cleanliness as a lifestyle, while Madam Brown highlighted the significance of civic responsibility and the broader impact of the exercise beyond immediate flood mitigation.
Management of the Commission has urged all regional, district, and divisional offices to maintain such efforts in collaboration with local authorities. The two-day national exercise continues Saturday, July 11, 2026.
