Accra: A member of the New Patriotic Party in the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency, Barima Sarpong, has urged all aspirants, delegates, and supporters to prioritise peace, unity, and respect as the party prepares for its constituency executive elections on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
According to Ghana News Agency, in a statement issued in Accra on Saturday, Barima Sarpong commended all aspirants who have put themselves forward to serve, describing their decision as a demonstration of courage, dedication, and patriotism. He emphasized that the elections should not be viewed as a contest between individuals but rather as an opportunity to strengthen the Party's structures and deepen commitment to the ideals and values of the New Patriotic Party.
Barima Sarpong outlined three key appeals ahead of the polls. On peace and order, he called on all stakeholders to ensure the elections were conducted in a peaceful, free, fair, and transparent manner and to respect the authority of the Elections Committee and the will of delegates. On unity and reconciliation, he urged the Party to unite immediately after the elections, stating that there should be no factions, no bitterness, and no divisions. The collective goal, he added, must be to position the Party for victory in the 2028 general election.
Regarding respect and decency, he cautioned against insults and misinformation, urging members to focus on issues, ideas, and solutions rather than personalities, to protect the dignity of the Party. Mr. Sarpong also encouraged aspirants to remain committed to the NPP regardless of the election outcome, highlighting that leadership is not defined solely by elected office but by one's willingness to serve. Whether victorious or otherwise, he stated, their contribution to the growth and development of Afigya Sekyere East remains invaluable.
He expressed confidence that through unity, hard work, and a shared sense of purpose, the NPP in Afigya Sekyere East will continue to serve as a shining example within the Ashanti Region and beyond. The NPP's nationwide Constituency Executive Elections are expected to elect new executives to steer the Party's grassroots structures ahead of 2028.
