Accra: The New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency election in the Upper West Region is progressing smoothly, with constituency delegates voting to elect 121 executives to lead the party across the eleven constituencies in the region.
According to Ghana News Agency, in the Lambussie constituency, Mr. Joseph Agrace Wiyorbie reported that voting commenced at 0800 hours, with 721 delegates expected to participate. By 0930 hours, 170 delegates had already cast their votes. Two candidates are contesting for the organiser position in Lambussie, while the other ten positions were unopposed. Mr. Maxwell Fudzi Vanscofly, the Presiding Officer, confirmed that the process had been smooth and expressed hope for its continuation throughout the day.
In the Wa Central Constituency, Mr. Isaac Alitu, Chairman of the Elections Committee, stated that the election had been smooth thus far. A total of 1707 delegates are anticipated to vote, selecting eleven out of 28 candidates vying for leadership roles. By 1300 hours, 914 delegates had voted across two polling stations in the constituency.
In Sissala West Constituency, all eleven positions were uncontested. Police personnel from the Ghana Police Service were present to ensure peace during the exercise. Reports to the Ghana News Agency indicated that the voting process was smoothly progressing in the other eight constituencies as well.
