Accra: The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Ghana marked the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) with a focus on fostering deeper cooperation between Ghana and China in various sectors, including development, trade, governance, and people-to-people exchanges.
According to Ghana News Agency, the celebration held in Accra gathered representatives from Ghana's major political parties, academics, civil society organizations, and media to reflect on the CPC's achievements and the enduring friendship between Ghana and China. The event featured an inter-party dialogue on governance, development, and international cooperation, highlighting the importance of political party exchanges in strengthening bilateral relations between Ghana and China.
The Communist Party of China, founded on July 1, 1921, has grown into one of the world's largest political parties. Over the past 105 years, it has overseen China's rapid economic growth and increasing role in global affairs. Mr. Cong Song, the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, emphasized that the CPC has transformed China from a poor and underdeveloped nation into the world's second-largest economy through strategic governance and continuous reform.
Under President Xi Jinping's leadership, the Party is committed to promoting high-quality development and international cooperation. The Ambassador noted that China's initiatives and the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation continue to create opportunities for African countries, including Ghana, in trade, infrastructure, and education. He reaffirmed China's commitment to expanding practical cooperation with Ghana through initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative.
Ms. Samia Nkrumah, former Chairperson of the Convention People's Party (CPP), reflected on the historic ties between Ghana's founding President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, and Chairman Mao Zedong. She emphasized the importance of these ties in enabling successive governments in both countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jnr, General Secretary of the Socialist Movement of Ghana, celebrated the CPC's role in lifting millions out of poverty and advancing scientific and technological innovation. He commended China's support for Africa through various initiatives and expressed confidence in China's constructive role in promoting global peace.
Deputy Treasurer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Thomas Ayisi, congratulated the CPC on its milestone anniversary and highlighted the shared values of social justice and inclusive governance between the NDC and the CPC. He expressed hope for a deepened relationship for the benefit of both countries.
Mr. Stephen Kwesi Acquah, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), acknowledged China's contributions to Ghana's development and reaffirmed the NPP's commitment to strengthening relations with the CPC for mutual respect and shared aspirations.
