Ellembelle Assembly Allocates Funds for Legacy Projects and New Developments

Nkroful: Mr Joseph Armah Agyekum, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle, announced during a town hall meeting that 20 percent of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) has been allocated for completing legacy projects initiated by the former government. According to Ghana News Agency, the DCE revealed that GHS800,000.00 from the DACF has been committed to finishing the new District Assembly Office Complex at Nkroful, while another GHS600,000.00 has been earmarked for the completion of the DCE's official residence in the same town. Additionally, GHS9 million has been designated for the completion of the Esiama New Market Complex, all of which were started under the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration. Mr Agyekum further highlighted other developmental initiatives funded through the Assembly's Internally Generated Fund (IGF) and the Member of Parliament's share of the Common Fund. These include the construction of classroom blocks and Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds. Notably, a six-unit classroom block is being constructed under the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) at Aiyinasi-Nyamebekyere, alongside an ultra-modern ICT library funded by the MP's Common Fund and a two-storey dormitory block for the Asasetre Technical Institute (ASTECH). The DCE also mentioned that work has resumed on the previously abandoned two-storey administration block at Bonzo Kaku Senior High School (BOKASS), initiated by the Member of Parliament, as well as on projects at the Kikam Technical Institute (KIMTECH). Additionally, a GETFund project has been approved for the Esiama Secondary Technical Institute (SECTECH) this year, and the Uthman Bin Affan Islamic Secondary School (UBAISS) is set to receive teachers' quarters funded by the Minerals Development Fund (MDF). In healthcare improvements, Mr Agyekum stated that the Assembly is constructing CHPS compounds with IGF support at various locations including Domeabra, New Somanya, Bomoakpole, Fiasolo, and Basake, with the reno vation of the CHPS compound at Azulenloanu already completed. He acknowledged the support from local companies such as ADAMUS Resources Limited, Ghana National Gas Company, and Eni Ghana in constructing school blocks, CHPS compounds, and teachers' quarters. Mr Agyekum also disclosed that the Assembly has secured GHS11 million to initiate a district hospital project in the coming months. Furthermore, Ellembelle has been chosen as one of the 11 districts nationwide to be elevated to municipal status.
