Madrid: More than 1,000 residents under the Sogakope Area of the Church of Pentecost (COP) have benefited from a four-day free medical screening and treatment exercise organised by the Pentecost Men's Ministry (PEMEM) in collaboration with the Okada Ministry. The outreach took place from June 16 to 19, 2026, as part of the National PEMEM Week celebration and was conducted under the guidance of Apostle Edward Brains Agidi-Quarshie, the Sogakope Area Head of the Church of Pentecost.
According to Ghana News Agency, Reverend Prosper Kpeli, the Sogakope Area PEMEM Leader, emphasized the initiative as a reflection of the Church's dedication to embodying the love of Christ through a holistic ministry that addresses both spiritual and physical needs. The exercise was carried out in partnership with a medical team from the Akatsi South Municipal Hospital and covered four zones within the Sogakope Area: Sogakope, Adidome, Akatsi, and Dabala.
The healthcare services provided during the outreach included general medical screening, consultations, blood pressure checks, blood glucose testing, health education, counselling, diagnosis and treatment of common ailments, dispensing medication, and referrals for more complex cases requiring further medical attention. By the end of the exercise, a total of 1,005 individuals received medical screening, consultation, and treatment.
The beneficiaries included 49 commercial motor riders and 952 church and community members. In an effort to improve healthcare access, the program also assisted clients with inactive National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards. A total of 141 NHIS cards were renewed at no cost, and 51 new cards were issued during the outreach.
Organizers highlighted that the outreach demonstrates the Church's dedication to community transformation through holistic ministry and aims to enhance access to healthcare services in the communities it serves.
