Kwadwo Safo Jnr Denies Claims of Adwoa Safo’s Succession to Church Leadership

Kwabenya: Kwadwo Safo Jnr, the youngest son of the late Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, has addressed recent claims regarding the leadership succession of the Kristo Asafo Mission, specifically dismissing assertions that former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, was groomed to take over the church's leadership. Speaking at a press conference, he clarified his sister's role within the family and the church.

According to Ghana Web, Kwadwo Safo Jnr elaborated on how his elder sister, Adwoa Safo, was assigned a maternal role from a young age. Their father, Apostle Safo, intentionally prepared her to care for her siblings and serve as a maternal figure, rather than grooming her for church leadership. He recounted that their father often relied on Adwoa Safo during challenging times and entrusted her with significant family responsibilities.

"The name Maame was given to her by our father, but her real name is Sarah. Our father would make her carry the younger ones and take pictures with us. According to our father, she is the mother of all of us," Kwadwo Safo Jnr recalled. He emphasized that their father's constitution explicitly stated that neither his children nor grandchildren could succeed him in leading the church.

Addressing speculation about succession within the Kristo Asafo Mission, Kwadwo Safo Jnr stressed that neither Adwoa Safo nor any of the founder's children had been designated to inherit the leadership of the church. He clarified that Apostle Safo had outlined his desires regarding the future roles of his children, noting that he himself was never considered a potential successor.

Kwadwo Safo Jnr also mentioned that his close association with Adwoa Safo over the years was unrelated to church leadership plans. "I was made to follow Hon Adwoa Safo not for church leadership but for another aspect of life," he clarified.

His remarks come amid public discussions and speculations over the leadership and succession within the Kristo Asafo Mission following the passing of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka. The press conference was attended by some members of the Safo family and supporters of the Kristo Asafo Mission, as the church seeks to clarify the future direction and legacy of its founder.
