According to ghana news agency:ccording to Ghana News Agency, the laboratories, equipped with a total of 120 laptops, smartboards, printers, and other accessories, were donated by Healthcare IT for Africa (HITA) in collaboration with the Chances Foundation and other partners. Madam Rose Nyawuto, the Headmistress of E.P.C. Mawuko Girls' Senior High School, stated that each of the three laboratories had been furnished with 40 laptops, significantly improving access to digital learning resources and practical ICT education for students.
She emphasized that the intervention would make lessons across all subjects, particularly ICT and Computing, more interactive, practical, and engaging, while equipping students with essential digital skills for the modern world. 'This is a proud moment for E.P.C. Mawuko Girls' Senior High School as we continue our journey towards becoming a hub for technology-driven education,' Madam Nyawuto stated.
The Headmistress also noted that the school's long-term vision was to become a leading institution in STEM education by empowering girls with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to excel in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in an increasingly digital world. She expressed gratitude to Healthcare IT for Africa, the Chances Foundation, and all partners whose support made the project possible and commended Mr. Edem Kpotosu, Member of Parliament for Ho Central Constituency, for providing transportation to facilitate the delivery of the equipment.
According to representatives of HITA, the organisation's recent visit to the school also provided an opportunity to engage the new management team following the transition from the administration of former Headmistress, Madam Ernestina Peniana. The team mentioned that discussions focused on outstanding issues and the implementation of a contractual amendment to the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen the partnership and facilitate future projects.
As part of the visit, officials inspected the existing HITA computer laboratory and the premises earmarked for a second computer laboratory donated to the school during its 40th anniversary celebrations last year. They observed that substantial renovation works, including electrical cabling, network installation, ceiling repairs, wall reconstruction, and the replacement of faulty air-conditioning units, were required before the second laboratory could become operational.
The partners also identified the need for additional rooms to serve as a computer workshop and storage facility for spare parts and equipment and subsequently developed a work plan with clear milestones to guide the implementation of the project. Madam Nyawuto reaffirmed the school's commitment to promoting innovation, digital literacy, and STEM education among girls, describing the ICT laboratories as a major milestone in the institution's quest to provide quality and technology-driven education.
