Lagos: Nigerian singer and half of the defunct P-Square duo, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has urged fans to stop comparing him to his twin brother and former bandmate, Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, or any other musician. Speaking in a recent video broadcast, Mr P explained that he wants to focus on his solo career and does not want any distractions. He emphasized that he is unique and urged fans to allow him to be himself.
According to Ghana Web, Mr P expressed his desire to distance himself from comparisons in order to concentrate on his individual artistry. He stated, "Stop comparing me with my brother or anyone else. Enough of the comparisons. I want to do me. There is no one like me. I want to do my thing and chop my money."
Mr P also discussed how his brief reunion with his twin brother, Rudeboy, affected the momentum of his solo career. He mentioned in a recent interview with Cool FM Lagos that prior to their reunion, he was gaining 100,000 followers on Instagram daily, but he noticed a decline in growth after they reunited. He commented, "Before the reunion, I used to gain 100,000 followers every day. After Davido, it was Don Jazzy and me who were the biggest African celebrities on social media. But after the reunion, everything just dropped."
Highlighting his long-standing presence in the music industry, Mr P emphasized that he deserves more recognition and respect for his nearly 30-year career. He noted, "I have been in the game for nearly 30 years, and I am still trending to date. I deserve more respect."
