Kpetoe: Mr. Eric Opoku, Agotime Cluster Programmes Manager for World Vision Ghana, has affirmed the organisation's unwavering commitment to creating conditions that guarantee the comprehensive development of children. He stated that the organisation would continue to scale up its educational and sanitation interventions to foster safer, healthier, and more supportive environments needed for children to thrive.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Opoku emphasized the importance of child rights to overall well-being, disclosing that the organisation was actively collaborating with various government departments to promote and protect these rights. As part of measures to ensure comprehensive child development, World Vision Ghana has provided training for children on internet safety to shield them from online abuse and cyber-harassment.
The Programmes Manager further stated that to eliminate obstacles to learning, the organization has provided essential educational resources, including reading materials and computers, to enhance digital literacy among pupils. Additionally, they have provided training for teachers, acknowledging the transformative role educators play in shaping young minds, and emphasizing the need to equip them with the necessary training to discharge their duties effectively.
Mr. Opoku also mentioned that the organisation was partnering with relevant authorities, including the Environmental Health Department, to drive a behaviour-change campaign focused on promoting high sanitation standards through consistent handwashing and proper waste management. He expressed delight that the interventions being carried out are yielding tangible results, noting that through the organisation's capacity-building initiatives, community members have successfully constructed their own household latrines and handwashing facilities.
