Accra: The Agona East District Chief Imam, Alhaji Ibrahim Jabiru, has reiterated calls on the Ministry of Education to post enough Arabic and English teachers to the District, particularly at Mankrong-Nkwanta and Agona Okitsiw Islamic schools.
According to Ghana News Agency, the District Chief Imam emphasized that Arabic Schools in the area are experiencing a shortage of teachers. This issue is compounded by infrastructure deficits, resulting in children falling behind in their curriculum. Alhaji Jabiru addressed these concerns during an interview with the media to mark the Eid-ul-Adha festival at Okitsiw in the Agona East District of the Central region.
He highlighted that the lack of teachers leads to many Muslim pupils loitering during school hours, with some classrooms remaining empty. Alhaji Jabiru appealed for the Central government and NGOs to construct more Arabic schools in the Agona East District and provide teaching materials to enhance Islamic education.
Addressing the issue of unemployment, Jabiru urged the government, private individuals, and corporate bodies to establish industries and companies to create job opportunities for the youth, aiming to alleviate unemployment challenges in the area.
He also reiterated the importance of education, calling on Muslim parents to invest heavily in their children's education as it is the greatest legacy they can pass on. Additionally, he advised parents to counsel their children against the use of hard drugs and substances that could harm their health in the future.
