Ahafo Deputy Chief Imam Warns Muslim Youth Against Substance Abuse

Goaso: Alhaji Mohammed Unus, the Deputy Ahafo Regional Chief Imam, has issued a warning to Muslim youth regarding the dangers of substance abuse and alcoholism. He emphasized the importance of focusing on education to secure a promising future, cautioning that involvement with drugs and alcohol could jeopardize their prospects.

According to Ghana News Agency, Alhaji Unus delivered this message during a Muslim gathering in Goaso to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha. He highlighted growing concerns in the country about substance abuse and illicit drug use. He also stressed the need for Muslim families to be vigilant in the upbringing of their children, ensuring they grow into responsible adults.

Mr. Yakubu Lezer, another Muslim leader, raised concerns about the trend of indecent dressing among Muslim girls, noting that it tarnishes the image of Islam. He reminded the youth that the Quran advocates for responsible and disciplined behavior.

Additionally, Alhaji Mustapha Ibrahim, the Tao North Deputy Chief Imam, encouraged Muslims to remain devout and adhere to the teachings of the Quran beyond the festival period. He underscored that faithfulness and obedience are rewarded with blessings, whereas waywardness can lead to negative consequences.

Mr. Haruna Mohammed, the Member of Parliament for Asunafo North, also addressed the youth, urging them to celebrate moderately and peacefully. He warned against the use of illicit drugs, alcohol, and reckless motorbike riding, which could have serious repercussions.
