Accra: The Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has outlined a strategy to enhance Ghana's production and export capabilities by focusing on local goods with appropriate standards, packaging, and certification.
According to Ghana Web, Ofosu-Adjare emphasized the importance of creating a competitive business environment to increase production, generate employment, and provide new opportunities for Ghanaians. At the 2026 CEO Summit in Accra, she highlighted technology as a vital element for trade growth. Small businesses are increasingly using digital tools, mobile payments, and e-commerce platforms to reach larger audiences and improve efficiency.
The minister noted Ghana's strategic advantage as the host of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat. With the right standards and market intelligence, Ghana can establish itself as a hub for quality products. Ofosu-Adjare stated, "A good product allows markets across Ghana, Africa, and the world to be accessible." She emphasized the goal of creating an environment where businesses can invest in competitive capabilities.
She further explained the government's vision for a resilient economy that utilizes local production, embraces technology, and takes advantage of regional trade frameworks to strengthen Ghana's global market role. This new assurance is expected to boost private sector confidence as the government aims to attract investment, expand production, and drive economic growth.
