Police Arrest Two in Nanumba South Child Kidnapping Case

Accra: Police in the Northern Region have detained two suspects in connection with the kidnapping of a boy in Kabulya in the Nanumba South District, with officers continuing efforts to rescue the victim and arrest other accomplices.

According to Ghana Web, the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation after three suspects were spotted at a drinking bar in Bimbila on May 26, 2026, at midnight. One was arrested while two others escaped. A second suspect was detained on Thursday morning after police acted on intelligence.

The suspects are believed to be part of a kidnapping syndicate operating within the Eastern Corridor enclave of the Northern Region, with police indicating that investigations are progressing steadily. Officers have also received information about a threat to another Fulbe chief, who has reportedly paid more than 20,000 cedis to avoid being abducted.

The victim, identified as Young Issah Ali, was abducted by unknown men in Kabulya in the Nanumba South District. During the incident, two family members were allegedly attacked and have been issued with police medical forms for treatment. Following the abduction, the kidnappers reportedly used the boy's phone to contact his family and demanded a ransom of 100,000 cedis for his release.

Meanwhile, the boy's whereabouts remain unknown as police intensify efforts to secure his safe return.
