Accra: Following the increasing reports of FBI-linked arrests involving some Ghanaian nationals over alleged romance scams and money laundering activities, Ghanaian media personality MC Yaa Yeboah has expressed concern over the situation.
According to Ghana Web, in a post shared on X on May 23, 2026, MC Yaa Yeboah claimed that some popular personalities may be avoiding international travel due to fears of possible arrest or interrogation at foreign airports. The frequent reports of arrests linked to alleged fraud and cybercrime activities have reportedly created fear among individuals who would otherwise travel abroad regularly.
MC Yaa Yeboah highlighted the anxiety experienced by celebrities, noting that every other week, news surfaces about FBI-linked arrests in Ghana. She remarked, "Truth is, some of our favourite personalities can't comfortably travel abroad. Stop acting clueless. Not everybody avoiding international trips now is 'too busy'; some are just scared at this point." This sentiment reflects the growing trepidation among public figures concerning international travel.
The media personality further suggested that the fear stems from the possibility of routine airport immigration checks escalating into intense interrogation sessions. She expressed, "They are scared airport immigration might turn into an interrogation room. quite worrying."
These remarks come in the wake of recent high-profile arrests involving some Ghanaians by the FBI and Interpol over allegations of fraudulent activities. Notably, those apprehended include the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, who was arrested in the Netherlands, along with others like Abu Trica, Dada Joe, Kofi Boat, Lancaster, Arrangement, and more. Some of these individuals have reportedly been extradited to the United States, where they are currently facing trial.
