Accra: Member of Parliament for Asokore, Dr Ayew Afriye, has dismissed allegations that he is part of a scheme to unseat the Member of Parliament for Ejisu due to his support for Kennedy Agyapong in the NPP presidential primaries.
According to Ghana Web, the issue concerning the Ejisu MP arises from a lack of trust between him and the Chairman. Dr Ayew Afriye has intervened to mediate and find a resolution to the conflict. He expressed surprise at the rumors suggesting he is backing a challenger to remove the Ejisu MP from office.
Dr Ayew Afriye emphasized that the friction is primarily a local matter between the Ejisu MP and the Chairman, and not a broader political maneuver. In a statement, he mentioned his efforts to reconcile the two parties, having spent over four hours attempting to bridge the divide at his residence. Despite these efforts, there remains a stalemate due to mutual distrust.
Furthermore, Dr Ayew Afriye urged the Ejisu MP to reconsider his communication strategy, which he believes misrepresents the situation and implies a wider conspiracy against him. Dr Ayew Afriye assured that he remains supportive and has no intention of undermining his colleague, reiterating his commitment to assisting him in resolving the issue.
