Accra: Entertainment pundit and media personality Ola Michael has called on the organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) to hand over the production of the red carpet segment to another team. He argued that the current organisers appear to have lost interest in making it impactful.
According to Ghana Web, Ola Michael, speaking during a discussion on United Showbiz on May 16, 2026, mentioned that the organisers have consistently shown that their primary focus is on the awards ceremony itself, with very little attention given to the red carpet experience. He stated that only a small fraction of the organisers' effort goes into the red carpet, while the bulk of their energy is directed toward what happens inside the auditorium.
Ola Michael suggested that the TGMA should delegate the red carpet responsibilities to another producer. He believes this would allow the organisers to concentrate solely on the awards. He noted that the organisers have demonstrated a lack of commitment to the red carpet segment, emphasizing that their focus is primarily on the music.
He estimated that barely 10 per cent of the organisers' energy is invested in the red carpet, adding that this neglect has discouraged celebrities and fashion enthusiasts who would ordinarily make the pre-show event more exciting. Ola Michael further observed that the apparent lack of interest in improving the red carpet has led many notable personalities to stop attending or putting significant effort into their appearance.
Ola Michael also expressed concerns about the treatment of VIP guests, arguing that individuals invited as special guests and expected to bring glamour to the red carpet were not accorded the treatment they deserved. He criticized the organisers for giving VIP tickets to those who would show up on the red carpet but not treating them accordingly.
