Kadjebi: Mr Tassah Tapha Tassah, the 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Akan Constituency, has called on party delegates and supporters to remain united as the party approaches its upcoming constituency elections. He highlighted the importance of unity in enhancing the party's chances of reclaiming political power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Tassah made this appeal during an interview at Kadjebi in the Oti Region. He pointed out that cohesion within the party is crucial for rebuilding the confidence of supporters and positioning the NPP strongly for future electoral victories.
Mr Tassah clarified that he is not backing any specific aspirant in the constituency elections and pledged to support whoever emerges victorious for the greater benefit of the party. He stated, "The party must come first at all times. We should avoid divisions and work together towards a common goal because that is the only way we can wrestle power from the NDC."
The former parliamentary candidate, who also practices law, urged delegates to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the election process to preserve the unity and image of the party. He warned against the influence of money in the electoral process, emphasizing that leadership should be determined by competence, commitment, and dedication rather than financial inducement.
Mr Tassah cautioned that vote-buying and monetary influence could undermine internal democracy and create disaffection among party members. He appealed to all aspirants and their supporters to respect the election outcomes and rally behind the elected executives to strengthen the party's grassroots structures.
Expressing confidence in the party's potential, Mr Tassah stated that with unity, discipline, and commitment, the NPP could regain the trust of the electorate and return to power. The NPP is scheduled to hold its nationwide constituency elections in July 2026.
